For my first Assignment I was thinking of re-writing a superman comic
called Superman: New Krypton. Written by Geoff Johns, James
Robinson, and Sterling Gates with art by Gary Frank, Alex
Ross, Renato Guedes, Jamal Igle and Pete Woods and
published by DC comics.

announcement to the united nation is being streamed live to Batman’s main
computer.
Zor-el:…with all your resources and our
advanced technology how can we fail…

Bruce Wayne
is observing the news reports. Alfred stands behind him coming to terms with
the latest updates.
Zor-el…how
can we fail when you, the human race has and always continue to show such great
strives towards peace…

Zor-el
continues his address to the United Nations.
…Take my
nephew for example. He fell out of the sky and against all odds you

and raised As your own, you taught him to strive towards ideals of truth,
justice and the way of human life….

into his costume.

alien child from the stars raised by a humble people. You were able to do the
impossible and this makes you great…

braces onto his head his mask.

Just as
Zor-el is about to finish his speech he suddenly shot through the head.
Supergirl
screams out for Zor-el, other Kryptonian guards try to hold her off.

United Nations, Security tend to the world leaders by evacuating the everyone.

swoops down to Zor-el’s body. Security creates a protective barrier.

uses his x-ray vision to examine his body.

looks up at head of security and Lois lane.

stands up and scans the area to determine the exact pin point of the shooter.

uses he’s x-ray vision to gaze through the walls of the U.N and find a sniper
trying to escape the scene.

Zooms up in
the air and continues in pursuit after the shooter using his x-ray vision to
track him.

swoops down past the city below.

finds the shooter and flies up in to the sky above the city.

Holding the
shooter by his collar above the city. Superman man is furious as his eye’s are
steaming red from his laser vision.
Superman:
why did you do it?! huh!? Why’d you do it!?
Superman:
who do you work for? Tell me?

notices something odd about this shooters behaviour in movements.
Superman:
are you alright?

Superman
uses his x-ray vision to reveal the Shooter is an android.
Superman:
you’re an android.

uses his x-ray vision to cut off the head.

throws the body of the android out of the earth’s atmosphere into space.

head is still active and contains a microscopic cameras’s in the lenses of the
eye recording superman tearing the head from its body.

The video
is being streamed to a secret unknown government military facility. Watching
this footage are two mysterious figures.

One of
these mysterious figures pours himself a glass of wine.

The
mysterious figure both reveal them selves to be Lex Luther and General Samuel Lane Lois Lane

Batman is
on route towards the U.N when he receives a report of an Outrage of Kryptonian
in New York

earlier this morning the police still have no leads but superman was at the
seen but now is in pursuit of the assassin. In other breaking news Kryptonians
everywhere are outraged some have started to storm the cities….

Bat-wing hovers above the city. Batman notices the change in the architecture
of the buildings into more alien and Kryptonian in design.

disfigured and morphed.

and I thought Gotham was in bad shape.

Fox while still flying through the city.
Dr. Lucius Fox: Batman!?
Batman:
Lucius? Listen now’s not the right time, I’m in New York

Dr. Lucius Fox is standing on a balcony.
Dr. Lucius Fox: no that’s exactly why I
called I think can help you find this Kryptonian couple your looking for.
Panel 3
Batman is
still hovering through the city.
Batman:
where?
Dr. Lucius Fox: they’re just of the
coast of Liberty Island bathing in the Earth’s
molten crust, my god I think their creating more land.
Batman:
wait, how do you know all this?
Panel 4
Dr. Lucius Fox is standing of the
balcony of a building complex over looking an immature volcano rise from the
ocean with a monolithic black ash cloud shadows a quarter of the city. Bursting
out from the centre of this volcano is the Kryptonian couple. The water around
the Liberty Island is boiling.
Dr. Lucius Fox :( Continued) …because I’m looking right at them.

The
Kryptonian couple hold each others hand as they fly into the air embracing one
another and then finally letting go of one another as the enter the sky. (the
Kryptonian couple are names are Ba-el and Lyla)
Ba-el:
refreshing.
Lyla: and
beautiful.
Panel 2
Ba-el and
Lyla are talking to one another as they hover above their new volcanic island.
Ba-el: a
fitting spot for a capital of new Krypton.
Lyla: I
think we can just as easily clear the apes out of New York City
Ba-el: if
you prefer, my love.

The
bat-wing is flinging towards them in the distance.
Batman:
halt! You two are need to come with me I am batman, I’m a friend of Kal-el ,
superman.
Ba-el: hah,
Kal-el that traitor.
Lyla: he
could have built a new krypton upon on all this squalla.
Panel 4
Batman is
speaking from the cockpit of the bat-wing.
Batman:
Superman has no right to oppose his will over…

The
Kryptonian couple fly off into the city. Batman follows behind.
Batman:
you’ve made yourselves at home?
Ba-el: we
had every right, the powers that we gain from this planets yellow sun, the
superiority of our Kryptonian culture.
Panel 6
Ba-el and
Lyla stop in mid air as there eye’s burn bright red. And angry expression
overcomes there faces as they turn to face Batman.
Lyla:
superman has gone native.
Ba-el: it’s
disgusting.
Panel 7
Together
they shoot a massive laser blast at the bat-wing.
Panel 8
The batwing
crashes down into the city.
Panel 9
Ba-el and
Lyla slowly descend towards batman.
Ba-el: we
came in peace and were promised peace but what do your people do… you kill us.

Batman
leaps out of the crashed bat-wing unharmed. Lyla and Ba-el proceed closer
towards nearing closer to batman as his life is put in peril.
Lyla:
superman. He hides among you as If ashamed of his culture.
Ba-el: he
deliberately chooses to disguise his greatness and cavort and dally with you
mortal apes as one of your own.
Lyla: has
he no dignity.
Ba-el:
enough of this.

Description/Commentary:
The story I’ll be re-writing will take
place somewhere in-between the storylines that took place in the following
original comic book story lines of the New Krypton Series.
Following the events of the "Brainiac" story arc, the
entire city of Kandor
Although distracted by the recent death of Jonathan Kent, Superman attempts to
aid the Kryptonians in their assimilation with the rest of the Earth, something
very few Kryptonians seem interested in, including the city’s leaders, Zor-El and Alura,
Supergirl’s parents.
After the first televised meeting between the President of the United States
At the same time, Lex Luthor, who has been recruited by
General Sam Lane to halt the Kryptonian “invasion,”
gains control of Brainiac and unleashes his robot army from
within the depths of the alien’s spaceship, currently being held in Kandor.
During the fight, Metallo and Reactron,
who are working for Luthor and General
Lane
Alura’s anger causes her to denounce humanity.
Members of the Justice League and Justice
Society arrive in Kandor, led by
the Guardian demanding the city
turn over those who murdered the police officers, and a large-scale battle
erupts, with Superman in the middle. It only ends when Kryptonian scientists
manage to use Brainiac’s technology to lift Kandor off the Earth and grow an
entirely new planet underneath it, called “New Krypton,” on the other side of
the solar system, directly opposite the Earth, and therefore hidden by the sun.
What I hope
to do with text is to re-write from the perspective of Batman
(Bruce Wayne) and his thoughts on the assimilation of the new alien race
with an already over populated planet. The re-write will look into Batman's
mind, especially his worries with 100,000 supermen flying around. My choice for
portraying batman in this comic book I because while batman appeared in the
comic book he wasn’t really doing anything except for accepting the situation
given to him and just observing which I thought was a waste of the such a great
character, So by flushing out his agenda and giving him something to actually
do while taking place in events of the comic story. Another main reason for
selecting batman was because his character throughout the original story was suppressed
but was more shunned to the side and wasn’t really given a chance to stretch
his wings in the books which really attracted me to writing from his
perspective and showing his interaction in the text.
After the first televised meeting between the President of the United States and a delegation from Kandor is
interrupted by Zor-El’s assassination while Supergirl weeps over the death of
her father superman quickly chases after the assassin only to uncover that the
assassin to be an android created by Lex Luther and General Sam lane (Lois Lane’s
father) who are against the assimilation of the Kryptonians on earth. I had to
use this assassination as a introduction point for my re-write because it
continues from a previous story that displayed batman but didn’t have him in it
originally and also because I thought that this particular part of the story
arch really lended it’s self quite nicely into my re-write.
Batman in this story goes up against a couple of
Kryptonians I created to kind of represent the Kryptonians views.
