Idea for rewrite
For my rewrite, I am planning
to do it on the famous book called the “Three little pigs.” I was planning to
do a perspective of the wolf. In the book or the film, the wolf appears to be
the bad guy. However, I want to portray my story and flip things around to make
the wolf the good guy and putting the pigs into bad guys. I am not 100% sure
how I am going to make this as a post colonial literature theme. However, I have
few ideas in my mind how it is going to work.
1.
Putting
voice into voiceless. The wolf is an important role in this story, but the
original piece of the story does not contain any thoughts of him or his
feelings.
2.
Issues of racism.
He seems to appear as an “outsider” in the story which can link to the problem
of racism.
3.
Jealousy
I want to keep the original story
and how it is structured but just putting the wolf in the good side of the
story. When I read books like this, I seemed to find myself liking the bad guys
more than the good. Looking at different perspective of the character can
sometimes bring more interest than the original piece of the story. The only
thing I am worried about at this moment is that the words limit, and how I am
going to write solid 3000 word rather than writing non-sense to fill in the
gap.
Sorry guys to post this so
late. I had it on my word document but did not post it on the blog for some
reason.
Thank you guys, it is kind of
late but please, feel free to post any comments down below and how I may be
able to develop.
Thank you!
I'm glad you are giving the 'Wolf' an alternative perspective. Wolves are often portrayed as sly and dangerous. And in a child's fairy-tale that is so well-known the wolf signifies an ominous presence exploited to teach the three little pigs a lesson. It would be interesting to see how you depict the wolf in a much more positive light. I like to view the Wolf as a figure that represents marginalised characters in society who are feared out of ignorance and intolerance rather than fact.
ReplyDeleteHi Nina, Thank you very much for your feed back. And YES! I do agree with your point about how the wolves are often portrayed as a dangerous characters. I believe that it is often interesting to put characters into different perspectives.
