Princess mononoke re-write the other side of the story with intro

Intro

In my rewrite as you can see here that my topic is about Princess Mononoke the other side of the story. But first I would like to explain about what is the main story about princess mononoke; but before that, Princess Mononoke is a Japanese animation that its genre consists of epic historical fantasy adventure film. And the story revolves on these 2 main characters Sun and Ashitaka, as where Ashitaka was cursed by killing one of the demons (best to watch to movie), this he sets out on a adventure to find a cure from this curse. As for San she is a young woman that was raised by the wolves and grew up within the forest, she has the hatred for humans although herself she is human. And possible reasons are because people were cutting forest to find iron and produce them. In turn it lead to a conflict with the forest gods. And further within the movie an epic battle between humans and forest boars was taken place. As the results heavy casualties within both and also heavy damage to the forests which caused infections. Thus these two main characters are set on not just to save themselves but also to save both humans and forest gods.

Within my rewrite, I didn't choose these two characters, but the character name Lady Eboshi (eboshi gozen) she is the leader in Irontown, and in the main story she has caused a lot of damage to the forests for the sake of those precious Iron deposits. Thus she is always conflicted with the forests creatures. To me she is a strong character, but I find it lacking more within the movie. This it got me interested into make a rewrite and making her my main character. However I added a bit more about her; in the main story she is a strong lady, leader, and not the type to back down. In my story she has these traits however, deep within her she is a sad lady, dark past, the forest gods killed her parents, out for revenge etc. and also the story approach is from her point of view of the story or I would say the other side of the story. To further explain the other side of the story, what I did is that her story intertwines with the main story (the movie) for example in the main movie of where the boar attacked Ashitaka’s village and got killed by him. however in my rewrite I wrote about what happened to the boar god before it attacked the village and also how I got cursed as the results. Lady Eboshi (my main character for the rewrite) her personality is unbalanced, with anger, sadness, she hid her emotions in a post colonial terms I changed her to an oppressed and also the oppressor character. In the main story she was somewhat stoic and brave and even in the end she lost an arm. In my re write she still has this character traits, but adding a bit more to what she has. Because in the main story to me, it didn’t tell much about her other than the leader of Irontown and her objectives, so I filled out the empty space and created a background story of her what why she is like this.

A faithful night in iron town, I think to myself being as leader of this little town. Things has been calm the people here work hard, friendly, and always helping out each other in times of need, and even the sickly people that resides on the other side of the town. Out town is small with a population of 300 this including men and women, and children it is a small number but to me it feels like we are a big family. Life in irontown is somewhat lush with resources such as woods to build more houses, and also to make fire to make us warm for the night. We also have rich amount of food supplies such as fishes, because the location of irontown is sitting right next to a big river Kiirokawa (yellow river) reasons for being called yellow river is because of its abundance of yellow finned tail fishes that dwells within the river. And you may have wonder why I have called this town Irontown, well even I myself questioned of why I called it irontown. It’s because of the rich vein of iron deposits that dwells and surrounds our town. And it is our main source of currency and also our biggest business trade to other merchants. To you it seems like a normal lifestyle, however outside the walls of irontown lies dangers, mythical beasts roam around the forest, and the beast gods as tall as Mount Fuji. And every time when my team of merchants venture out to buy supplies, we always get attacked by these beasts, and it takes a couple of shots with our handmade guns it is a struggle and always suffers many losses. Every month we lose3 to 5 members and the losses are increasing because of the heavy demand of supplies as our population increases. I despise these beasts, my hatred to these monstrous beings darkens my thoughts every time I see one, and I want to shoot them and show them as decorations at the back of my garden. This clouds my thoughts and the consequences are far too great, these feelings oppresses me, and also my people are suffering I must do something to protect these people. Tonight I must rest another long day awaits tomorrow, and maybe some answer will come appear right in front of me.

The next morning, I was woken up by a dream, a dream which I haven’t seen when I was a child. To interpret the dream, I was with my family on a day out fishing and having a picnic by the river, everything was perfect, a day out with the family, listening to the river sounds, laughing together. Suddenly a loud shreak noise was heard from the forest, we were surprised, and with curiosity my father went inside the forest to check it out, but I yelled at my father to not go there its dangerous there are mythical beasts dwells inside the forest. We waited and waited, one hour passed, we were worried, and then my mother decided to find father inside the forest. I grabbed my mother’s arm screaming at her not to go, my mother just smiled at me patted my head with a soft voice she said “it will be fine I will be back” she slowly disappeared into the forest. And I stood there between the dangers and the safe haven, thus I waited until sundown. All I hear within the forest are the screams of other beasts until next morning, it became quiet, and out of the blue I heard a flutter sounds of the tree branches.

Slowly appearing I see a dark silhouette from the forest, my eyes gazed through my eyes widen, a beast slowly came out from the forest, and there I focused my eyes on the mouth it was bloodied and its mouth opened, there I saw a battered body inside its mouth I screamed knowing it was my mother inside the beast mouth. I was frozen unable to move because of the horror that I have seen in front of me. The beast approached to me, and suddenly it talked to me saying “those who trespasses in the sacred forest will die, you little girl I will spare your life, leave this place before I change my mind” I ran away screaming in fear. Then I came back to reality just staring at ceiling of my room, I dressed up on my kimono then suddenly I heard a loud scream from the observation tower saying “a boar god, lady Eboshi located south side from the town and its coming here fast.” My feelings of excitement suddenly came to me, I grinned with confidence I yelled to my armed team to gear up and ready your guns and cannons we are hunting a boar god. The whole town barricaded the doors, and they filled out the cannons with gun powder. As they stood at the top of the barricade they waited, and waited, then suddenly they hear a faint rustling sounds beyond the forest, then the whole field began to quiet down for at least 5 minutes. I think to myself it’s been 5 minutes, where are you beast!! Then suddenly the beast jumped out from the forest with great speed towards the town. As I focused towards the beast, I realised and I began to shake with fear as I had a nostalgic feeling, it hit me hard from the inside of the horrors that happened to me on that day of when I was a child. My mind was frozen as if the time stopped for a brief moment, then suddenly one of my men shook me hard to return back to reality, and yelled at me “lady eboshi what should we do? We are awaiting your command! It’s coming this way fast, and judging by it’s size am not sure whether our barricade can withstand with that monstrous size!” I ordered my men to fire everything we have; they fired their guns along with our cannons, the smell of gunpowder spreading all over the town, all of our shots were a direct hit to the beast, but the beast still kept going at a considerately at a fast pace. It was getting closer and closer, and I told my men to fire again, but none seems to work, until I focus for its head, I fired as the bullet went through its forehead: the beast started to slow down and a loud shreak was heard, and then it stopped. And I called my horse and I went out from the barricade and rode towards the beast; it was all bloodied, and I can hear heavy breathing from the beast.

I stared at it for a while, it was slowly dying, and then our eyes met. The beast talked to me; “ahh those eyes, I remembered those eyes were filled with fear, but now I see, determination, strong will but full of hatred towards us. But I don’t blame you, we as the guardians of the forest must protect the forest, those who enter the sacred ground must die, thus your parents were there in the wrong place and the wrong time. Due to human arrogance and also meddling with other problems this are the consequences.” Then slowly the beast starting to get consumed with these disgusting black looking worms, and one of the townsmen told me, these are the curse that has been created by hatred.

The townsmen also said that; “there’s a saying that, those who are consumed by hatred will turn itself into a demon.” The metamorphosis I see front of me, which in my entire life I have never seen before, as I see the beast transformed, scrawny 3 legs starting to take form, and two red eyes began to show. And it stood there for a brief moment, looking around, then I hastily ride back to town along with my men, then suddenly it was looking directly at us. We heard a loud roar, then it charge at us to towards the town, I yelled at my men to fire at will. The sound of the cannons firing scared the monster, it panicked then it went straight to the forest. We all stared to where the monster have gone, for a brief moment, we all sighed as a sign of relief that we manage to kill the boar god and also fended off the monster that consumed the god. We cheered and cheered, but as for me, I was tired, I succeeded, after years and years I waited for that time to come, however this time was worth celebrating, but I felt emptiness inside me, no sense of satisfaction. I felt agitated, so I quietly walked back to my house, I took off my clothes, then went to the bath; it was relaxing as if my mind if drifting off somewhere to a dream. And again I began to reflect on what has happened this day, a lot has happened, and what should I do from now on; I have killed the beast that killed my parents, I had my revenge, after years and years of waiting I have accomplished my mission. Now what should I do; my mind became lost once again, then again it hit me, and realized; why I am I thinking like this from this point on I have to keep going; I do not know what lies ahead tomorrow and the future head on, but surely this time I will be prepared for what’s to come. I got off the bath, the longer I stay the more I think about the future. I put on my robe and I walk towards the patio, from there I can see the whole view of Irontown I smirk, a view fit for a leader indeed. And not to far from my view I can see the people rejoicing, laughing together, and children playing next to the bonfire. Everyone was having a feast; they deserved it. I honestly believed that without these magnificent people, I couldn't have done this at all.

I turn my head up and look at the starry sky, I never knew that tonight is so beautiful night; I smiled with a short message to my parents, mum dad I am okay now, I am not alone now, I have these people that I have the obligation to protect and I will do my utmost best as the leader of Irontown. I let go of the handrail and walk towards to where the people are gathered together; they cheer on my as I approach them, and of course we ate and drink until late. I walk back to my house, I glance towards the field to where the beast died and transformed into a demon; there I see a white silhouette more of a size of a human being just standing there, although its hard to see I can see it is wearing a mask and the clothing covered with fur and next to the person was a pure silver colored wolf god which I never thought of seeing another god roam about together with a human being. However I felt fascinated by it because how it is possible to coincide between beast and humans, but at the same time I felt a chill down my spine as if it is fear knowing that there will be dangers that will occur soon. I have to prepare for this, by the looks of it this will not be the last sighting of that human and the wolf god; sooner or later we will encounter them once again. I went inside my house and I sleep.

Morning has come up; I woke up from the sun that's rising from the east. I got up, with a slight headache from drinking last night; I can hear the people outside back to their normal routines, finishing, gun making, farming, mining and so on. I called my business group to have a meeting, we gathered around, since the attack of the boar god we had suffered losses on our supplies and we are running out; I want to go out to the main city to do some business trade with them. So we agreed and prepared for a 2 day’s journey to the main city. So we departed towards the west, all seems peaceful on our journey to the main city; so we arrive to the city and began our trading with other business; so we manage to obtain the supplies we need that will last us for a few months and also clothing. So we departed from the city at dawn, as while we’re riding our carriages I sense something which has a familiar feeling a few days ago. I stop the carriage and I look around the mountain range; and I said to myself it must be my mind is playing tricks on me. Then I felt a strong wind pass by, I turn around there inside the forest I see a white silhouette of the person wearing a mask and also covered with a fur cape; and behind the person was this huge wolf much bigger than the ones I saw this person for the first time. 



I knew immediately this is trouble; I don’t have the proper equipment for this and these men do not know how to hold or fire a rifle. I yelled to ride as fast as possible; then I heard a loud howl inside the forest, then out from forest a pack of young wolves dashed out from the forest along with the mask person; it was coming at us at high speed; I took out my pistol and starting shooting at them while carriage are moving. However due to the supplies it was too heavy and they catch up to us then one of the wolves knock over one of our carriages and was left behind; so I stopped and turn around and I told them to keep going. So they did, and I took some of the guns and of course my wakizashi in case I ran out of gunpowder. So I ask the stranded men to take arms and fend for themselves. So we use the carriage as a barricade and began shooting, since the wolves are weak to loud gun noise so we have the advantages, however the bigger ones seems to have no effect to the noise and it keeps pressing forward towards us; then suddenly the person jump out from the wolf draw its knife out and began charging at me, and I also drew out my sword. So we clashed and exchange blows from our weapons; and by the looks of it this person is very aggressive like a wild animal. By this I found an opening and hit the person in the mask; the mask broke off I was surprised it was a girl with a tattoo in her face. I ask her a question; what is your name girl, and what is your relations to these beasts, why are you with them?

She replied; I grew up in the forest I was adopted by the wolf god mother. So it’s none of your business to know further!

Aggressively she repels my sword and began to back off; and she said this to me, you have caused uproar within the forest and killed one of the forest guardians. So am giving you a warning woman to go back to where you belong or else you will die.

So I also replied, tell your beasts friends that I am not backing of nor leaving my town. I will be prepared. So without a word she turns around hop on the wolf and return back to the forest. So from here on out, things are going to be interesting, am looking forward to see you again little girl.
